Pedunculated haemangioma of the palate.
Haemangiomas are the most common tumours of vascular origin of the head and neck region and can appear anywhere in the oral cavity. They are benign, appear in early childhood and usually involute as the child grows older. The dental surgeon should manage them appropriately if they are symptomatic. This report presents a rare case of a pedunculated haemangioma in a 4-year-old child.
متن کاملCapillary haemangioma on the palate: a diagnostic conundrum.
Haemangiomas are benign tumours of blood vessel origin and are classified as capillary, cavernous or central. They appear as flat or raised reddish-blue lesions and are generally solitary, affecting women in younger age groups. Leiomyoma is a rare benign neoplasm deriving from smooth muscle. Vascular leiomyoma is its most common subtype in the oral cavity. It may appear at any age with the greatest incidence in the 4th and 5th decade of life. The common manifestation is a slow-growing, asymptomatic, submucousal mass. The diagnosis is only through microscopic examination requiring special staining...
متن کاملHaemangioma of the mediastinum.
Mediastinal masses not infrequently present themselves as problems for diagnosis. Benign vascular tumours of the mediastinum are rare. Adams and Bloch (1944) reported a case in which the tumour was incompletely removed at operation. The patient was alive and well four years later. The subject was reviewed by Seybold, McDonald, Clagett, and Harrington (1949), who collected 14 cases from the lite...
متن کاملRare cavernous haemangioma of the oral cavity with numerous phleboliths
Hemangiomas are tumors of blood vessels identified by rapid endothelial cell proliferation in early infancy followed by involution over time. All other abnormalities are malformations resulting from anomalous development of vascular plexuses. This lesion in the oral cavity is not common. Despite its benign origin and behaviour, it is always of clinical importance to the dental profession and re...
